The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) was founded in 1934 as the professional membership organisation for trade mark attorneys. It is responsible for promoting, supporting and educating those in the profession. The granting of the Royal Charter is something that ITMA have been working towards for some time, and will further increase the profile for trade mark attorneys in the UK, reflecting the quality of advice and service which members provide.
Once the Charter receives the official Great Seal from the Crown Office later this year the Institute will be able to rebrand as the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, with members being able to refer to themselves as Chartered Trade Mark Attorneys.
